Safety Quiz
Listen to a NOAA Weather Radio or television for information and evacuate if directed by local authorities to do so
Secure your home, close storm shutters, and bring selected outdoor items (such as patio furniture, etc.) indoors
Turn off utilities if instructed to do so
Turn off propane tanks
Avoid using land line telephone unless it's a true emergency - resources will be limited and your call could prevent another from going through
Stay indoors, away from windows and glass doors
Close all interior doors-secure and brace external doors
If you are instructed not to evacuate, take refuge in a small interior room, closet, hallway or basement on the lowest level of your home during the storm; if possible, use mattresses, blankets or pillows to cover yourself and if you have a helmet (such as a bike helmet), put it on
